why have I not heard about this yet
60.5 width and 5on4.5 30 spline
sounds like it's a perfect drop in swap why have I not seen anyone do this on an xj yet??

D44a its an aluminum center section. Not good

Just not worth any thing more then what your replacing. If it looks to good... It is + There are already 2 other bolt in upgrades form the D-35 (reg XJ D-44, XJ 8.25) there's not point in waiting the time with somthing like a WJ 44

A WJ doesn't run a 4x4.5 bolt pattern either, should be 5x5 i think...

WJ is 5x5 and wider than an XJ axle, as well as the aluminum center section.

Yes^... The only "good"thing about the D44a is it uses a D60 Pinion.

WJ version doesn't have an aluminum center section like the ZJ but is still c-clipped and almost no aftermarket support. And like stated above 5x5 bolt pattern.
