Default Wiring up a sub

I'm hopefully gonna be hooking up my sub this weekend, but I have no idea where to run all the wiring. I was hoping someone could tell me what they did. I could probably hide the wiring under the interior trim, but I'm not sure how to route it through the back of the dash to the stereo. It's a pretty tight fit back there, and I don't want to mess up any wires. Running it to the battery will be a little tricky too. I might have to drill a hole somewhere, which I'd rather not do. Any advice for a sub newb?

I haven't done it in my XJ but I would try and run the wiring from the back of the radio down under the center counsel then under the carpet under the back seat to the subs or zip tie it up under the dash and run it down under the trim along the side for the door sills. For the battery cable you can prob find a pre existing hole from factory wiring and run it thru that. Or drill a hole an install a rubber grommet.

That's the ideas I had flowing through my brain. I'll probably have to get little grommets and drill a hole. It's just the problem of going behind the dash. I have no idea where to go with the wire. There's no opening in the little pocket the stereo sits in. I could probably follow the antenna wire down, but it might be kinda tight. I'll just have to do a little scoping around. It would be cool if my mind would let me take it somewhere to be done, but I don't work like that. haha. I like to do things on my own and gain experience.

There's Plenty grommets in the fire wall for a power wire.

Run the RCA Cables and the Remote Power wire (The blue wire) from the radio down inside the dash, across the bottom of the dash, and under the edge of the carpet all the way back to the amp (on the opposite side you ran the power wire).

I've usually found that a smaller amp fits under the back seat or screwed to the back of the back seat quite nicely.

How is the fit inside the dash? Is there a way to put something in between the power and other wires to get rid of interference? Cuz that would make it a hell of a lot easier if I could run them down the same side, haha. I was also thinking of screwing the amp to the box, so it will be easier to take out if needed.

You can run them both down the same side you're just taking the risk of having interference.

The dash can be tricky to fish the wires down but it's not that difficult.

I prefer not mounting the amp to the box due to A LOT more vibration there than the back of the seat. Things start to rattle loose after a while.

Theres a plug in the driver side firewall to run a wire to the battery.
Run the battery wire on one side of the jeep.
I ran my rca cables and the amp cable to the head unit on the other side by the floor underneath the plastic trim next to the doors. A ground spot isnt difficult to find if its in the back just pull some carpet or look where the seat latches. If you need any help or a picture I can show you my setup

You can also run those wires behind the glove box and down to the fuze box area

Those are all good points lowrange. I'll probably put the amp under the seat then.

xjboy, pictures always help, haha. I know what you're talkin about though. My only problem is the dash area. I just don't want to run the wires somewhere bad or screw up any remaining wires in there. And I already took up one grommet on the driver's side with the wires for my fog lights

I was thinking of running the rca and remote cables the way the antenna cable goes. That way they'll end up in the passenger side kick panel. Then I can easily keep them under the trip and keep them hidden. Even if I have to lay some duct tape over them, that works too. haha. I just don't want anyone ripping them out when they get in and out of my jeep.

I made another thread since my plans got pushed back. Turns out I'll have to get a capacitor so my headlights don't dim out. Hopefully my electrical system can take my setup. I'm not really pushing that much out of it. Here's the link to the other thread if you're interested: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ca...8/#post2060468
