Default Wiring 97+ mirrors to non power 95XJ

Well I'm always up for a challenge and my mirrors were trashed so I picked up a new pair of 97+ mirrors that are powered.. My 95 doesn't have power anything, how hard would it be to configure up these to work with the 97+ mirrors and the older style switch in the console(see picture)? Could I make a wiring harness and splice into the pigtail for the switch? What's my best option here? Thanks guys!

I've done it on my 87. Wasn't hard, wasn't easy. It just takes time and patience. You'll need a wiring diagram of the harness you want to replicate. Most likely a diagram of the year that the switch is from so you can match colors on that. Then I believe it's only three wires going to each mirror and two wires for power.

Why do you have to cut the wires? Just leave them there and use them as manual. When you figure it all out, then you can connect them....

I guess on the pre 97, the wiring doesn't really have anywhere to be run?

How can you say that? There were power mirrors before 97. Their wiring had to go somewhere.

It's pretty simple electrical. Just a matter of connecting the right wires to the switch and the right power source. All you need is a wiring diagram.

If you do leave them manual I wouldn't cut the wires. Just leave them hang in the door somewhere out of the way. I upgraded my mirrors with the intent of wiring them just haven't gotten around to it. For now they are manual but someday I'll get around to doing them up right. If you cut wires you won't have that option down the road.

Exactly, and look at the switch you posted a picture of. "84-96" Power mirror switch... The switch has to control something?? Like power mirrors on an 84-96 CHerokee? haha

I know that. But I had heard that the wiring was more bulky on the new style and had to be routed differently?

Hmm, not that I remember that about mines. My memory fails me though. This was 2-3 years ago I did mines. I'm pretty sure they route the same way with no problems.
