stereo illumination help
I have an aftermarket alpine in my 91 jeep today didn't want to power on. All fuses are good everything is good I'm getting power just no display illumination. Called alpine they said it's dead I should send it for repair. But when I put the stock stereo in to at least have something to listen to the display on the stock stereo was no good either however I can hear music and I can cycle through radio stations. This has me thinking maybe an illumination wire is bad somewhere anybody have any ideas?

Most of our jeeps have a separate wire for display, operates in conjunction with dash lights to dim or brighten.
Do you have a wiring schematic that defines the jeeps radio wires?

So i found out that the stereo is fine. I ran a power test and ran the stereo straight to the battery and it powered up fine. I'm very close to running the stereo to a switch straight to the battery but this is last resort. Still messing with wires to see if I missed anything.

Not on the jeep harness I do have it on the harness adapter but there is no wire to match to the alpine harness. I have a plug and play harness and all the wires are color matched. It used to power on and work perfectly fine this just happened out of the blue I didn't even mess with anything.

The problem is in the jeep wiring. Everything is clean but the wires all have these blue connectors as if it was cut before it's obviously been tampered with.
