Did it blow a fuse? Is the key On?
Are you using an adapter harness that plugs into the jeeps harness, or did you cut the wires?
Do you have a wire diagram to insure proper color wire for power?
Just need more info

Thanks for the full reply, did not intend to sound condescending or silly asking if key was on, just covering all the bases.
Now that the dome lights are out, I would suspect there is a grounding issue. When you tested the power wire, did you use a black wire as ground or use a metal part of the vehicle chassis/body?
It's a tough diagnoses from this side of a computer.

Bing and the fuse box.
I did the Bing part and got the wire colors for a 2000, should be the same as 01. The fuse box will be marked as to which fuse feeds what. Included here is a picture comparing good fuse-bad fuse.

Next time, I suggest using an adapter plug for radio and not cutting the stock wire harness.

Ohh u should prob check the wiring for breaks or corrosion.. follow the bunch of wires from deck harness thru to the junction box(fuse box) under hood.. Cherokees are notorious for breaking power & ground wires, especially in the rubber boots in door jams
