Can I assume that this vac ball needs to be relocated for most aftermarket front bumper installations?
I have a '98 Sport w/ Np242 w/ the vac ball in the bumper also...stupid design! If you remove it, do you simply plug both lines, or connect them together? I'm interested in doing this but don't want to lose my HVAC controls.

I removed the ball 6 months ago when I installed my winch bumper. I have been meaning to reinstall it in the engine bay for the last 6 months but usually just get busy with something else and forget.
The only time I remember is when I go to use the cruise and it doesn't work, then I think, "hey, I need to install the ball".

So just to be clear..
pre-97 models need the vac ball for HVAC otherwise it is just defrost, etc and post-97 models it is safe to bypass the vac ball and HVAC controls all still work? I don't have cruise control either so dont' care about that

My hvac controls and cruise did not work in my 99 with the ball removed once I put the ball under the hood and hooked it up I had all of my hvac controls and cruise working again.
