Default V8 swap...

I have a 5.0 HO 302 out of a 1991 mustang fox body laying around the shop collecting dust. How difficult would it be to do a v8 swap in a 1992 Cherokee Laredo. Would I have to swap axles? Transfer case? Transmission? Gears? I know the answers to some of those, just looking for as much input and information as possible.

there will definatly be some fab, as far as i know 5.0 swap engine mounts for the xj dont exist.

i personally wouldn't use the jeep trans behind a v8, im not sure what others you could use since im not a ford guy

the axles should hold up to a stock motor ok

you gauges wont be much of a hurdle since your xj is pre 97, just screw the sensors in the block where they need to go and theyll read(except for the tach)

the np231 can work behind a v8 with a couple upgrades, but again idk if a 231 will bolt to a ford trans.

The aw4 will hold a v8 no issues. Will need a bigger cooler that is all. With a few line pressure mods and clutches, the 2wd version Toyota uses has held 1000hp+. It's the same auto as the supra.

The big problems will be making your own motor mounts and adapter plate if you use the stock trans. The gm v8s like the 350 and the ls you can get all the swap parts which are not cheap but out there.I wouldn't trust the aw4 or np231 i would upgrade both of them if im going that far to swap engines.Toaster a 1000hp supra makes what in torque tho 500 maybe 600 food pounds? Most of the drag mk4 supras i have seen ran a gm trans because of the price.

I have the fab skills seeing how I'm a fabricator for Jvnw. Big stainless steel beer takes. But I don't think I wanna go through all that just to have more problems. Maybe I'll just sell it instead and put money towards a rustys long travel lift.

The 30/35 still live with my small block Chevy. The swap kit was too much money, so I built my own. $30 in everything to bolt it in. I don't beat on it like a rental tho.

Default 97 Ford Explorer motor in 96 XJ

Nephew will sell me his 97 Ford Explorer 5.0 4x4 for $600,thought I could use the 8.8 rear end with the disk brakes. But then the rest of the Explorer would b just sitting around without the rear axle. So my idea was to make my XJ sorta like a prerunner,a little off road mayb sum small creeks but mostly a daily driver. I could just keep my 8.25 rear end and upgrade it for 35 tires. Near future long arm lift kit planned...I would like to do a engine swap and was wanting to go with a LS engine but if I have the Ford sitting there I was thinking might as well use that engine, even if it has over 230,000 miles on. What do you guys think? I'm new hopefully this is the right thread
