it will bolt in but only if you use a 350 from a 1/2 ton 78-82 short wheelbase 3 spd auto chevy van. if you get one from the long wheelbase you need a trans adapter.
Honestly i would lose the ax5 its not super strong and the torque from a v8 might kill it.I would do a small block turbo 400 or a beefed up 700r4 or a stick a nv4500.Then you have t case options the np205 and dana 300 are the best to run.A step down would be a np208 or np241 both are alum case chain driven. But with a strong drive train the axles would be the weak link.

I fixed most of the first page, but it's turning into a major undertaking. Maybe this weekend I'll fix it all. Maybe I'll work on the Jeep too. Any questions, just ask. It's not a simple job, that's for sure.

Easiest is a 350 with adapter to chevy bellhousing... clutch is a bolt in chevy clutch then 231 just bolts up the same as well... only engine mounts and one adapter to do... rest is autozone parts

Well its not a bolt in no... I'd imagine you could swap a couple parts on the case easily with a GM case... and retain the 4:1 and sye... the GM 241 is a bolt up though and drivers drop if need be...
A rebuilt rubicon np241 is 1900 bucks the adapter kits i found to use a 700r4/4l60e is 500 to 600 bucks.Or a lomax 3 to1 np205 is 1600 bucks and adapting it to the 700r4/4l60e is around 300 bucks.Or another option dana 300 used 300 to 500 bucks lomax 4 to 1 gear set 575 and 700r4/4l60e adapter around 500 bucks.

why would you buy a rebuilt rubi 241? buy a chevy 241 $100 and rubi 241 $800 to $1000 and some RTV... and where you get a 300-500 price on a dana 300? they are on pirate or anywhere else twin sticked and flipped ready to go for 300... i can get from the junkyard for 50 to 100 stock...
Buying a used t case you never know what your really getting tell you open it up,If you buy one rebuilt its new and ready to go today. The dana 300 prices was what i seen rebuilt ready to go,yeah a junkyard one will be cheaper if you can find one.

Transmissions I'm worried about when bought from a JY... engines as well... cases are rarely bad... specially when it comes from a rubicon which is not gonna be that old... I'll never buy new because of fear of buying bad...
