gm atlas engine swap?
I searched around here and didn't find anyone who had done this swap. curious what's involved, etc. it's an inline motor, as well, so fitting it to the chassis and exhaust routing shouldn't be as bad vs a v8.
would be an awesome swap. i'm trying to dig up some info searching the web now. I was hoping to speak with someone directly who has done the swap.

bump my own thead.
after some research it appears that using a LL8/4l60e combo in conjunction with an s10 231 xfer case (which apparently bolts right to the gm transmission) is the way to go. leave the stock axles/driveshaft I assume..?
this motor would be an awesome swap for these things. 291hp/277tq stock out of the gate. they utilize a maf, as well. they have gm's ecu which offers amazing tuning options, which means my hptuners would work with it.
bolt ons and a tune would yield 320hp fairly easily in a motor like that. then you'd have killer power, a killer powerband, and a stock engine that would last forever in that state. i'm not a 4l60e fan, but if that xfer case will bolt to a 4l60 it will bolt to a lot of other trans haha

interesting info. I have no advice or knowledge for ya I've only just recently been looking at some jeeps with v8's. I've seen a few 5.3l vortecs. what would you be looking at cost wise for this swap?

i think it would be cool. fully dressed its about 30-40 lbs lighter then the old 4.0. plus dohc, 24v, VVT. but the starter is in a REALLY weird spot so a 5 speed swap would suck. and i think they only have 5 mains compared to the jeep's 7. i could be wrong...

said the engine was 440 lbs complete I think. not sure all if it would make the swap.
I haven't looked into getting one yet. but I can't imagine them being expensive. I can find 5.3 truck motors all day for $450. in fact just had one given to my father lol
