Anyone have reveiws for rugged ridge HD steering kit?

 

I am currently running right now and I would not recommend it the dead spot is horrible so straight on the highway is bad but off road it is build strong. I would recommend the currie I'm waiting on my new steering to be delivered to get rid of my rugged ridge to fix my problem.

 

Dead spot? Have you checked your steering box at all? Please explain how 2 rods can have a dead spot.

 

The rugged ridge uses the inverted T setup UTK without shims. What the dead spot is is the tie rod pivoting about 5-8* before turning the wheels it has nothing to do with the steering box but if your steering box was loose it would amplify the effect. Because the drag fastens on the side of the drag link is what makes it rotate. It is also worse with height when I was at 3.5" of lift it was comfortably manageable but with running 7" of lift with 33's it Is difficult to drive down the road. Once I get my new steering setup will make it a lot better. If you google worst xj steering upgrade the inverted T setup pops right up.

Everyone that I have ever known who runs Rugged Ridge steering eventually gets rid of it. Without exception. It's junk (so they say). I have yet to read anything good about it from someone that has actually used it. I certainly can't explain the dead spot, but it's given this system a bad rep. I stayed far from it when I was shopping for steering.

 

I have jcr 1 ton steering, I am very happy with it
