I hate to tell the misinformed.. TSL's are some of the most used tires on rigs on the east coast. I run beadlocks, and run 3psi on the trail, and they work. Also like I posted earlier.. groove your tires. It gives them more ledges to grip with.

Also I personally never buy new tires. All offroad tires work best with less then 50% tread. Luckily the last set of Tsl's I got, I traded a Xj d44 for them, and they were 85%. So yeah the tread blocks are chunking a lil, but no biggie as they are offroad only wheels.

I run 4PSI in the front and 6PSI in the back on mine without beadlocks and have blown one bead. It got caught on a rock on the inside. Most modern mud terrains do not offer anywere near the same amount of cut resistance a Bias set of swampers will offer. That's why I run a set. No radial will ever out perform the cut resistance of a bias ply tire.
I couldn't agree more. I run my 34 LTB's at 10psi and they perform great. I also grooved them to get a little more flex out of them. They're pretty well worn out too. I have never lost a bead. Only issue I've had at that pressure was mud, sticks, etc getting caught in the bead and having a slow leak. But that's an easy fix with a garden hose.

I've seen my sidewalls folded in half around a rock or stump and thought for sure I was going to puncture them. I've got cuts, bruises, etc but no leaks.

the only swamper i will run is an irok (if they are cheap enough). ive had boggers and tsls prior. boggers had the cool "i have boggers" factor going for them. tsls just rattled my jeep to pieces and didnt make up for it off the pavement.

Of course this is NO REPLACEMENT FOR BEADLOCKS!!!!
i had several tires before the tsl that i could air down to 5-8 psi without issue. i ran 36x12.5b15 on an 8" wide wheel. the carcass was just too darn soft. the tsls just made wheeling not fun. i do have beadlocks now.

while bias ply tires are generally stronger. not always the case. bfg krawlers for example.

but now that i have creepy crawlers, every other tire is pretty much garbage in comparison lol.

x2. Not to mention I'm pretty sure I saw the same ones on CL a week ago and they looked old and crappy. You don't really want to buy tires that are over 4 years old anyways. DOT numbers don't lie

I know people that can work tsls and people that can't. My brother has had to pull 4xs out of holes that had tsls and he had tsls on a '83 Chevy 2 WD and had no prob with the same holes. The same guy bought buck shots (same size) and had no problem with the same holes he got stuck in before. Some people has good luck with tsls and some don't. Just because they don't work for you doesn't mean they won't work for others.

Mine are completely out of balance with flat spots and don't handle terribly on the street. Maybe you had some bad TSL's

TSL's and soft carcass don't belong in the same sentence. I have trouble crushing mine at 4PSI. This is a well broken in set. You had the Bias ply's or radials?

NO Bias Ply tires by design ARE stronger. BFG Krawlers are a good radial as are the MT/R's however they are NOT stronger than a good set of Bias Ply tires.

They are good I wouldn't say that good. Hell out of my wheeling group one guy has creepy's. I think the last review I poked through the Pitbull's beat them out. There are also a lot more people at least were I am that run rockers than creepy's.
