Default Transfer Case Drop

Hey guys, I'm 16 and bought my first car a few months ago, which is a 1988 Cherokee Pioneer. I just lifted it around 5 inches and I'm experiencing some vibrations, and I'm pretty sure its the drive line. My question is, is a transfer case drop an effective and legitimate method? Or just a half baked way to get rid of vibes...

dropping the tc is a old trick been around for years ,the older xj are alot more foregiving in the vibration dept i ran 7 inchs of lift with a tc drop with no issues dont go any lower than one inch readjusting the linkage should also be done to the case

X 2, like Freedgr said. A transfer case drop works just fine for liftes up to 6.5". Never go for more than a 1" drop. You can also buy wedge shaped shims to install between your rear axle pads and leaf springs to point the pinion up a little. This works in conjunction with a TC drop to get rid of driveline vibes. I ran a TC drop and degree shims in my Jeep with a 6" lift for 3 years and it was smooth as glass. I have a SYE now and it is the best cure but, know the TC drop is no half baked Redneck engineering. I bought a 4.5" lift kit from Rusty's Off Road and the lift kit actually came with a TC drop kit and a degree shim kit to compensate for DS vibes.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I classmate of mine gave me a brand new t-case drop kit since he didn't use it. I think I'm gonna try to get it on this weekend.

Trust me, I would love to get an SYE with cv joints and custom shaft. but I'm 16 and don't really have that cash, even though I have a job

yea mine at 5" had a little vibes, threw on my 1" t case drop that was $25 on ebay and its smooth.

obviously having your t-case closer to the ground is what we are trying not to do though...

I think what I'll do is use a transfer case drop until I decide to move up to an SYE.

yeah definitally spray it, and if it doesnt occur to you like it didnt to me at first...... there are 2 bolts and 2 STUDS that hold the crossmember up. to remove the studs lock another nut against the one thats on and use a socket to get it out, mine were really in there!
