So I am in a bind, turns out the previous owner drilled out my track bar bushings not quite straight. Had to replace a bolt
for obvious reasons. I had to drill out to 12 mm to avoid slop. And since there was no slop The bolt would go in halfway and then I had to jack the track bar up 1/3 of an inch to get the other side through the frame side track bar bracket. Seems fine now that I’m using 12mm 1.5 fine thread grade 10.9 bolts torqued to 75 lbs with a new flag nut I welded up.
Question is since I had to put that force into the track bar to align the bolt holes y’all think I’ll have any issues as I am about to go on a 2k mile trip. Everything is tight and it seems to drive fine. I intend to replace my track bar when I get back but I cannot delay it any longer as I’ve already taken the time off work and I leave In 1 day and can’t get new bushings.
And any new recommendations for a new track bar for when I get back?
You're probably done with the track bar replacement by now but I believe the Bolt torque is more like 50-lbs not 75-lbs.
Cat Mechanic told us whenever we were torquing bolts, plan of having spares in stock because the Grade 8 Bolts do stretch when re-tightening them for the 2nd or 3rd time of use.
We ran into Bolts that had stretched a few times. Some parts & attachments like the Rotating Shears were coming loose a short time after normal use, so just sayin........

I am running 12 mm or about 1/2 inch grade 10.9 bolts along with an aftermarket track bar/custom brackets. It would be perfectly fine for me to torque to over 100 foot pounds and that’s what I actually did after some trails in Wyoming I had a little play and went up to 110 ftlbs. 7k miles on my setup and no issues. It was mended
I'm wondering what Lift I have... 3.'' 4'' This is my 93 XJ I bought last year...
I haven't been able to get just 1 set of OEM specs on the height of my XJ. Since I found 3 different sets of specs,
I'll have to wait till someone here with more knowledge can answer me on that. I still have the set of OEM rims w/tires, so I'll
be able to calculate the height of my Lift.
***I already ordered the Track Bar Bushing assembly but the guy emails me 2 days later & mentions that the lift may also mean
the Bushing could have a larger OD. lol
