Thinking about lowering the xj
1.5"?
As it sets its about 3" of lift in the front. 4+" empty in the rear. Tires are very tall 32's. Taller than most 33's.
I gained a few inches of GC by doing a flat belly. So nothing is below the frame. 18 inches under the lowest point at the cross member. Same as a jk with 4" of lift and 37" tires.
So to keep a very low cog I was thinking of lowering the jeep an inch and a half.
Thoughts? And thanks.
Picture of it now.

at what point do you want to sacrifice all up travel? it's already a rough ride with the short arms no need to bottom out all over the place over a matter of 1.5". if you're having issues with off camber its not gonna be because of the lift height at this point
Yea, up travel is something to consider, thanks. I have only 2in of bump as it is in the front. Maybe 2.25? So it would kind of be like having 3.5" of bump in the front. Is this going to cause it to bottom early and be rough?
Anyone run that much bump on 3in of lift??
I get into quite a few tipping spots. But I also have been known to pull off some sweet lines.
I know I am splitting hairs here. But every bit makes a difference.

i wish i had the amount of free time that you do to imagine all these small differences in your magical wheeling land of tire carrier destroying ledges and 33s out wheeling buggys on 40s.
but for reals, if you widen your stance it would have just as much, or better effect, than lowering it.

I did. I added 1.5" wheel spacers all the way around. Like it a lot better.
And its not a magical land. Its using logic and common sense.
I tried this line right before these guys came through. Made it about 10ft farther than the rig with 44's, who eventually winched himself out.
Not enough skinny pedal on my part.
The Last One made it. A wrangler on 33's. I stopped recording because I thought he was done right there.
joking and stuff is fine. But when I say something you can take it to the bank.

Well I checked and I still have 5" of up travel. So I don't think 1.5 in less will be too rough(I hope).
I still will have superb GC for a jeep with 32’s. And my flex, droop, and travel all will stay the same. The only thing that will change is the ride height.
I have inch and a half springs for the front. In the rear I was planning on recessing the upper shackle bolt an inch and a half further up in the frame. It will help the departure angle. I measured and there is room to do it.

you would probably have better luck controlling the suspension from unloading. Ever thought about adding some pull-down winches for instances? I don't think the 1.5" is going to make much if any of a difference. Hell, you should get that when you air down.
Yes I drop quite a bit running 10psi.
I have another set after these wear out. Best tires I have ran yet for off road. And yes I run them on the freeway at 70mph. This jeep is my daily driver even though its locked front and rear.
Here they are next to a new 34 10.5 ltb super swamper

Yea its just strapping a xj with a 3in lift seems a bit too much? Not to mention two winches!
I think I will try in a inch and a half lower and see how it works. Really it will still have more clearance than it did with the 3in lift because of the flat belly I recently installed. That is why I am thinking its A WIN/WIN.
