Exclamation Fog Light Wiring Help

Hey guys, couldnt seem to find what im looking for as far as wiring up these lights. I have a 94 XJ not that it matters l, but i have two fog lights on my hood and Four up top on the roof, i cant seem to figure out how to wire them up properly. Id like to have three seperate switches, each controlling two lights. Each light has two wires, ground and power... Now when connecting to a switch, do i really need relays? Is there certain gauge wire i need to use? Right now i have two hooked up to a switch and that thing is sparking and wires are melting....any assistance would be great. Thank u

depends on the light, but itd be safest to run a relay for each switch. probably 16g-12g maybe?

14g seems to be the norm with normal kits like hella sells. assuming they are halogen lights then yes get a relay for each switch, it might "work" without it but its a bad idea to run all the current of that type of light thru the switch.

Ok, so then 14g sounds pretty reasonable. Basically i should combine the Positive of the two lights i want together ? Then ground the two grounds seperatly to the body..? Then run battery to relay, relay to switch, switch to lights? Is that correct or is there a different way?

Actually if anyone has or could draw up a diagram thatd be even better. Not hooking them into ignition, just hot anytime.
