T-case Temp Guage??
I have a 98XJ & on drives around the 25 min mark, I noticed that my t-case gets so hot to the touch, that u will nearly burn ur hand!! I just changed the fluid so I know that's not the issue, SO my question is, do they make a transfer case temperature guage & possibly a cooler?? Would getting a trans cooler & guage help the t-case at all??
Thanks!
Thanks!

not sure how you will hook up a cooler to a np231. They use a fluid pump, but its a cheesy little thing.
I do know my t-case got hot enough when I was out in the desert (highway driving with a belly skid) that water would sizzle off of it. Didn't have any real issues though.

+1 that pump won't do much for you. If your Jeep has an automatic I don't know if adding it into the fluid loops is a good idea or even possible.
A generic temp gauge will work, tap a boss somewhere that doesn't look overly structural Yeeaaah not really
Just put some synthetic ATF or 5w30 in it and call it a day. Don't forget to change it

I would just run the np231 how it was designed to run. its not like overheating them is an issue.
not sure how putting it in the trans cooler loop would effect the lubrication, and I wouldn't be sure how to regulate the fluid level either... and if one unit goes bad, bad stuff could end up in the other. unless you add some filters.
its going to be complicated and it isn't solving any issues.

Where would be a good place to safely drill & tap a sensor & is it even a good idea?
Do t-cases normally get so hot that u can hear the fluid boiling after a half hour or longer drive?
Thanks!

Again, why? There are no seals or bands that would wear out prematurely if you got the case too hot. It's just a couple gears and a chain in there, stop worrying about it.
