231/300 would work but plan on doing some work on the floor and possibly the exhaust because both are made for a driver drop and won't have the clearance. Unless you're set on a 44/60 combo skip it. If you need tons get tons like a 60/60 or 60/14 bolt. I still regret building my 44.

If it's a D44 it's not a one ton it's either a 1/2 or 3/4 ton depending on the hubs. Both have the same housing just one is 6 lug and one is 8. Both reach their limits at 37s. I have chromos in mine and still break cause they don't like my 38s.

Hardest part is remaking the mounts for the front seat after you cut and rework the floor. The Chevy 60 is about 100 bucks cheaper than a Ford version but is low pinion vs the Ford high pinion. Chevy brakes are better but can easily be swapped to the Ford.

And if you're set on a D300 you can always flip it for driver drop.

thats good to know. i figured i would swap sides to have more axle options. i plan to run military 37s and h1 military wheels.

i may run a 44 for a bit depending, but the plan be 60/60. now can a low pinion be run with 6 inch of lift? i dont plan to go more than that.

It can just puts more of an angle and strain on u-joints. The military tires suck offroad. They are super heavy and have 10 ply sidewalls so aired down to single digits they still ride like they have 50psi in them. I gave away the last ones I had because I couldn't sell them. The H1 beadlocks are OK but you need to weld on rock rings because the lips are weak and small. Also don't run the runflats because if you do air down and they flex a little it'll cut the tires from the inside, you need to get the flat inserts.

good to know. i want to get fat chick bead lock rings to put on em. but i like snow and weak wheels and being far from pavement may not be a good combo. i dont play on rocks mainly mild trails and snow as deep as i can find during the winter . i'll check out some pics of dismantled h1 wheels take a look see at what your talking about.

been cruzing craigs list. havent found a ford hp 60 yet.
