supercharger on stock engine
Need thoughts on putting supercharger kit from boosted tech on 1999 xj with stock internals 4.0 with 190k miles. I mud race this xj and it is also my trail jeep. Not a daily driver. What would engine reliability be with supercharger on it with this many miles?

I followed two builds.........elsewhere.......
One guy got 90% complete and disappeared.
The other, I just checked, does not appear to be road ready yet.
All custom fit........not some bolt-on kit and be down the road in an afternoon. If they tell you otherwise..........full of ****.

I think another guy on this forum under name of cobramarty sells them as complete kit and says can be installed in a weekend no problem. Have you personally seen any of these kits?

I'm aware.
Do a search and a lot of reading.
I have yet to find one successful build.

I don't see your need for a SC--even $2700 is a lot of money to be spending. An LSx swap could even be more bang-for-buck in the long run, but in some states engine swaps can get legally weird. I'm not sure, but I think WI would give me grief if I put an LS into my XJ--I'm not planning to, but if I did, I'd definitely look ahead at the legality first and cover all of my bases.

Yeah, what he did is not the same as installing one of CobraMarty's kits.

Thread after thread of anything would require a large population of people spending that kind of money on that kind of thing AND being willing to write about it online. I'm not going to just assume one way or the other. There is a lack of evidence for both cases, and if you choose to be skeptical, I have zero problem with that. BUT, assuming that one kit is more difficult and expensive than advertised because a completely unrelated kit was is neither smart nor fair.

Well over 125 kits out there. Making new top mount TJ and side mount XJ M90 based kits. Lots of 'billet' new stuff. JK 3.8 M62 kit. 4.7 V8 kit soon.
Future- 3.6 Pentastar M90 kits. Maybe next year a KL 3.2L kit.
No failures. Many owner's friends want kits now.
Come by anytime and take a ride.

The reason i want a supercharger is because i not only run in 6 cyl class but i also run 8 cyl class. I am very competitive even in 8 cyl class but i need just a little more. As far as the cost "1st place isn't cheap". I like to beat the v-8's with a 6cyl.
