Hey guys.. month or two Im going to be buying this:
http://www.golenengineservice.com/en...eep-long-block
I dont have the time or the know-how to properly build one myself and the 3 year unlimited mile warranty is nice. (Just had to get that out of the way haha)
My question is this... I know Roller Rockers can make a difference in larger more powerful engines as far as durability at higher RPMS and some people say they give you a little more HP (in this case probably only like 2-3) but do you think it is worth 400 extra dollars to get them installed in an I6? I would prefer to have the cash for intake/exhaust and the other stuff Ill need but if it would make it more durable, Im all for it. What do you think?
Thanks!

bpas328xi has harland sharp 1.6 roller rockers and he could probably better explain the benefits.

Alright thanks man! Hey quick question. You have had strokers before correct? What options are out there besides a open cold air intake for getting enough cfm to the motor? My current system is rated at 500cfm and stock is like 375 i think. Im planning on going with a 68mm throttle body but no sure how I am going to get enough air to it without loosing the higher/ somewhat water proof intake. Spectre sells a larger sealed intake but I dont know if I can pull enough through the cowl. Any Ideas?

No I am not. Just reading on the jeepstrokers page the past few months and that was what some/most were running so I figured I'de go that way too. I guess I might be over thinking it... I just want it to run right if I am dumping the cash into it. I dont want it to be starved in any RPM range- though I wont be that high hardly ever if ever. Would you recommend going with a 62 instead? The price difference is negligible. Thank you for the help.

I did a little math after finding the formula (the formula to calculate 100% volumetric efficiency is-(Max RPM/2)*Displacement)/1728) which makes the stock xj 4.0 want around 366 CFM for 100%. A 60mm flows at about 377cfm (from what I can find online) and a 62 flows at 415 CFM at 100%. I guess Ill ask Golen what the displacement for that motor is and go from there. If it needs more than 450 (counting for dirty filter at times) I guess Ill go from there. Thank you for your help. Got my mind going to do the math myself haha

Gotcha. Just gotta find out what the displacement is on the motor so at least I have the capability of being in the correct range. In any case I think the ~500 with what I have (plus new TB) should be enough. Thanks again guys!
