2x6 rocker replacement question
My passenger side rocker panel is shot, from the side it looks fine and I could deal with a little rust, but at the bottom it's starting to peel off and is completely rotted from the inside.
I looked at the write ups on here and other forums about the 2x6 replacement, which looks like the best solution to my problem and doesn't seem that complicated (apart from the welding part). My question is, considering I don't own a welder nor do I have any experience with one and also that I only have one side to fix, how long should I expect a job like this to take at a 4x4 shop? I know it's time consuming, but I want to get an idea of what to expect before I request a quote. 5 hours? 10 hours?
Thanks!

Depends how busy the shop is,If you call a head and book your work to be done it should be done in a day.If the shop is busy they might charge you more then when they are slow and need money now. Also talk to a frame or chassis shop if you have one of them they can do the work.Just stay away from performance shops most of them never done that kinda work before.

Consider this.
You're willing to shell out the money for a shop to spend between 5-10 hours on your jeep. Shop rate is probably about $100/hour.
That means you'll be spending between $500-1,000 for labor + whatever materials cost + markup on materials. You're looking at around $800-1,300 for ROCKER replacement!?
Buy yourself a welder, figure out the whole welding thing, and do it yourself.
You'll learn a skill and save some money, and have a welder for future projects. It's a win-win.

Really depends on the condition of the inner rockers, i usually try to leave the inner rocker in pinch weld and all. and that becomes the cradle for the inside edge of the 2x6, if its rusted too bad you should cut it out then weld in angle iron to support the back edge of the 2x6. the first time i did my 2x6 it probably took about 5 hrs excluding frame tie ins. and i left my inner rocker in.
If you got the guts to do it yourself, it can be done with a HF fluxcore welder. not much fun though and definitely not the best first time project, but not impossible.
