Talking stock 4.0 HO, cam curiosity

anyone threw a cam in the 4.0 HO?
just looking for ideas

stroker would be nice but no money for all of that, plus i kind of need the jeep every now and then don't have the option for the down time.

i'm just thinking about about getting a comp cam because i want the sound.
$170-$250 isn't all that bad for some "uniqueness" if it can be done on stock

not looking to start racing a jeep lol, just wanna hear it with a cammed lower idle that would sound really cool. i've just never been around anyone playing with the engine like that and wondering if its possible

friends, me, and a radio can handle putting it in

if anyone's got a thread or a build going or just a comment, fire away haha

www.summitracing.com will have cams and cam kits. 505 Performance has roller cam kits, but they are way too expensive for a mild build.

sweet, i'll check out what you have when i can tonight haha. im only looking for a mild cam.. although the kits from 505 performance are interesting. theyre stroker kits arent too expensive either considering its a all you need in one box thing.. price for efficiency i guess.

cleaned the IAC a few minutes ago.. helped
workin on radio and and sound system now then cuttin old exhaust off tonight for the new muffler. i think something in the amp has gone bad.. ive checked everything ive done and im still getting a popped amp fuse :/ anways...

I bought a Golen stroker that had that cam in it but the cam was trashed as were the cam bearings and one rod bearing. I'm putting it all back together with stock cam and valve springs.

That's why I designed my own. The Golen one you have to rev to redline to make its peak power. I "moved" the powerband to the midrange.

There have been tons of cam problems on strokers that I've heard of and obviously seen. That's why I'm going stock cam. Too little gain for too much money and the risk of failure seems to rise exponentially.

A lot of the strokers are for race and off road useage. I carefully took the time to piece and measure mine as not to have problems. Im using a 4.2 block instead of a 4.0 and REMEMBER check for piston to valve clearance. Most just throw a big cam in and ignore that detail.

safer that way i would think. i would prefer reliability over everything being stressed on redlines
