Starts then immediately dies

auto zone will rent you one when you return it you get all the money back if theres one to rent

1990 XJ 4.0l I6 automatic. My jeep starts just fine then cuts out and dies almost right away. If I keep the key turned it stays running. t
This is happening to me..What was the most likely thing that caused it?
I've read the thread but ,,according to the post it could 500 dollars in parts if I just start trying things it could be.

Truck is broke down in parking lot ,,any ideas sure would be appreciated

Theirs a ground on the back top of the motor that connects to the firewall?
