Starts then immediately dies
1990 XJ 4.0l I6 automatic. My jeep starts just fine then cuts out and dies almost right away. If I keep the key turned it stays running. I replaced the ignition switch and the cps. I dont think its the anti-theft feature(i have tried everything since i dont have the key) I have voltage to the ignition switch in the 'on' position. My fuel pump ballast resistor was smoking so it is bypassed(just ran the wires together). When the key was turned to the 'on' position the wires for the ballast resistor tested at .01. When it was turned to the 'start' position it topped out at about 8. All my relays appear to be just fine. I tried swapping the fuel pump relay for a new one and nothing. I now have my fuel pump attached to a battery outside the jeep. I'm not that good with wiring and I'm kind of just stuck at this point. The next thing I'm going to do is take off the throttle body and thoroughly clean it. Please somebody know what's wrong with it

It originally sounds like an alarm problem. If it started fine and everytime cut off after 1-3 seconds that's what it sound like. How long have you been having this problem
Well it started cutting out while I was driving on the freeway and then it died and I couldn't get it to do more that start and die..it got hit where I had it parked so it was towed and towed again. Sat at my sisters for about a month until I had time to work on it. People thought it was the CPS so I replaced that last week and it's doing the same thing. I don't have the door key so if it is the alarm I don't know how to stop it. My door isn't even connected right now and when I turn it over the lights don't flash or anything
prrretty confusing....
have u verified basics, a good battery & alternator?
not familiar with fuel pump ballast resistor, but might be something u dont want to bypass & try to operate normally....did u verify bypassing the resistor operated the fuel pump, & delivered fuel to the fuel rail/injectors? are the injectors working properly?
when u say the door isnt even connected, u mean u dismounted the door?? why? did u disconnect the battery?....if u have a (working) door light sensor & u dismounted the door, that sensor is thinkin ur door's open & left the interior lights on
as far as the alarm, if dont have the key for it, why not rip it out & eliminate that completely?

I jump it with my car when I start it so That i can be certain power to the engine isn't a problem.
Ballast resistor bypassed. All it does is lower voltage to the fuel pump to make it quieter. Which at the moment doesn't even matter because I have the fuel pump wired directly to a battery so I can manually turn it on and off.
No interior lights and have disconnected the wire that tells them to turn on because I have my doors set up for quick disconnect/removal.
Where is it and how do I remove the anti-theft feature?

I bought new relays today. If that doesn't work I'm gonna go to the junk yard and pull a whole new PDC and re wire all that.
How could I check my MAP?
And how could I pull the anti theft?
