spartan front autolockers stay locked

Just installed a spartan autolocker in the front of my 98 xj. Dana 30 front with 231 T case. For whatever reason the front stay locked in 2wd and 4wd. It pops like a ***** when turning and does not make the typical clicking. Any ideas where to start?

Engine: 4.3L with headers and full 3" exhaust system

You may not have enough clearance. However the most likely thing is that it has too much gap between the sliding halves. So what you need to do is take the diff cover off and let us see some pics of it

Something got put together wrong. As said above, open it back up and inspect, if you don't see anything, Take it out and verify everything. Re install.
