Ok, so it snowed here and until I finish the '98, I'm tooling around in my '92 (NP242).
Soooo.....
I go to throw it into 4WD, and it seems to act a wee bit slow, but I figured since it was cold, it might take a bit to engage. Fine, goes into 4WD P/T, so then I throw it into 4WD F/T, and it goes.
Here's the problem... I can't get the damn thing to disengage from 4 at all. I can get it between F/T & P/T no problem, but it just doesn't seem to wanna get back to 2WD. I know it's a Jeep and it LOVES being in 4WD, but the fuel economy really sucks!
REALLY sucks...

Any suggestions?

fuel economy wont change in full time to 2wd. if it does, you wont notice it. change the fluid. my 242 needs a bump in and out of neutral or a blip on and off of the gas to get out of 4wd.

Well I always give it a lil throttle burp going between ranges.
My fuel economy is a world apart between 2WD & 4WD.
I get around 18-20mpg in 2WD, drop that by at least 3-4 points in 4WD.

Yup, tried everything that I could think of. It's just being a 'lil [poop]. I stopped at the parts store and picked up some trans fluid and some Lucas, so I'm gonna F&F it either tonite or tomorrow nite. Depends how things go with the '98 tonite.
