Default Snorkel or cone filter

I have a 89 jeep cherokee 4.0 and I want to install a new intake system but I dont know if I should install a snorkel or just a cone air filter system which be the best I really dont go off-roading much I just go to the beach alot for fishing, what would be better

If you don't wheel much and stay away from deep water just do a cone filter. But do a search on here, you can fit one in your stock airbox that way you have a little more protection just in case.

Agreed.

It bothers me seeing Jeep air filters out of the airboxes. If you wheel that is asking for trouble IMO.

I'd go snorkel. That's just me. Looks cool. Would be getting cooler air instead of the super hot engine bay air. And just incase ur off on a trail and see a small body of water there wouldn't be much to worry about if you decided to go through it. That's me. Unfortunately right now I'm in need of more important parts first. Or else I'd have one.

My buddys 87 is on about 3 inches lift,
and he has just a cone filter that's all the way against
the firewall, and he does fine in deep water.
But a snorkel is still the way to go

I bought a knn and hate it! I'm wanting to sell it and get a snorkel but money is a little tight. I've been dead in the water because the unprotected cone ..from water splashing, not from being submerged

Which is exactly why I hate seeing exposed air filters in any vehicle that spends time offroading/in the mud.
