Snap-On MT2500, Fuel Sync.
OK I finally got around in hooking up my MT2500 to the XJ.
I bought it mainly so that I can see the 'Fuel Sync'. That is the relationship between the CrankPS and the CamPS.
Stock should be 0*.
I know that this doesn't control timing but it does control the 'timing' of the fuel injector firing.
I've read where engines with a mild cam work better/more power with Fuel Sync at +5*.
What about stock engines? What about engines with usual bolt ons? 0* or 5*?
So my question is how can you adjust this?
This is on '97-'01. The distributor hold down bracket/clip piece has 2 fingers that lock it into position on the distributor. There is no way to turn the distributor.
I have read that you can cut off the 2 fingers that lock it to the distributor or cut the 'ears' off it (but I think that is for the earlier distributors which have the hold down bracket attached to the distributor).
Why more power if +5*?
My theory is that by squirting the injector slightly earlier, there is more time for the fuel to get 'sucked' into the cylinder and there is more swirl and tumble of the intake mixture.
Any experience or thoughts?
