So, i am currently driving a 95 2 door jeep cherokee. Only mods so far are a cb radio, and a set of 31x10.5r15 BFG all terrains. Luckily for me, my jeep has the upcountry off-road package. The front has retained its height and is still 1inch over stock. The rear has sagged about a 1/4 to a 1/2 an inch. So, the jeep sits about level. Recently a friend of mine offered me a set of RC 1.5-2 inch lift shackles for "whatever I think they're worth" I plan on doing a 3 inch lift after Christmas, I thought the shackles, combined with the lift would equal a 4.5 inch lift when combined with a cheap spacer.

So, my question, does any one have a pic of a jeep with upcountry and the rear lifted 2inches, and are there any problems with my plan for making a 4.5 inch lift using the 3 inch lift as a base?

Thanks in advanced -T

EDIT: I forgot to mention I plan on running with just the 2 inch lift in the rear until the lift comes in, in order to gain some much needed tire clearence.

First off don't forget it might not be so bad because you can use the first hole in the shackle for 1.5" lift and if your sagged a 1/2" you'll only be 1" higher in rear which wouldn't be bad. Now if you do a 3" over Christmas, make sure it's with 3" leaf packs not an add a leaf, if the rear springs are already sagging now, the add a leaf will fatigue much faster and sag as well. So you can run the shackle on the first hole for now, order a good quality 3" full leaf pack lift and your good

Awesome! In relation to sagging, Will the shackles have an impact on my stock springs? They need to hold up for 3-5 months of use. I had planned on buying full leaf packs as this rig may be my transportation to and from college next year and I just don't trust a propped up set of 20 year old leaf springs!

I mean, the shackles in theory won't hurt the sagged springs much, they just look funny because you can see the fatigued spring now since its approx 3" Lower than stock mounting positions. Your leafs are probably more flat then negative arch anyway.

Real tire clearance comes from opening up the fender wells, not from lifting. At max articulation it's as if you have no lift. If it's purely a street jeep and you never articulate like lifted street trucks then yes lift can help with tire clearance.

I gotcha, I just wasn't sure if only lifting one end of the spring would change anything, but I guess it really isn't changing that much.

In retrospect articulation would have been a better choice of words. Currently I have about 2-3 inches up up travel in the rear before my tires start eating my inner fender flare. I am hoping the shackles will at least make my setup a little more bearable by giving those 31s a little more headroom.

That looks really good, I think I'm going to keep my 31s when I do my lift, to avoid the cutting. One question, did you install an sye? And if not, are there any vibrations? This jeep must be able to make 65-75mph for 3-4hrs. I'd like to avoid the cost of an sye since I can't use the hack n tap on my year of t-case. However I can't have my t case explode on a routine trip home.

Thanks

No, we got lucky. We didnt install a SYE or a tcase drop and have no vibs. You can always go with a tcase drop for the time being until you save up for a SYE.
