Default Ram bar/BullBar mounting

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4 door 4.0L straight six and I have a problem haha. I was able to remove a bull bar from another jeep for free and I had the part completely restored (bull/ram bar). the downside is I was unable to remove the mounts from the other jeep and I removed the part years ago so I forget what the mounts even look like. Anyone have any ideas or know anywhere I could buy some kind of mounts I can make modifications. I just don't know where to start.

Throw it away or sell it. Buy a full bumper. You'll be far better off in the long run both in strength and protection.

A push bar/bulll bar that mounts over the stock bumper is just for looks,And in a wreck they cause more damage then would have happened with out one.

I have a hard time agreeing with that. Without it the guy whose bumper I hit, which was a beefed up tire carrier type, would have crushed my battery and ruined my electronic center. The brush guard helped spread out the impact to the surrounding sheet metal which I straightened myself and easily bolted a new fender and front clip onto.

Think about this, a bumper is not very sturdy or structural. Look at any vehicle on the road and you'll see this is true. They are designed this way to absorb the impact of a collision and protect the vitals, as well as the structural integrity of the frame of the vehicle (not so in a unibody case, but same concept). When you strengthen the frame, or unibody, plate the frame rails, add heavy steel bumpers and brace them etc, you reduce the dampening effect of the soft cushy bumper and end up transfering much more force to weak points in the structure of the car, and also to the people inside of the vehicle.

So yes, a brush guard will cause more "damage" to the vehicle, but the people inside would be much happier. Jeeps are replaceable, people are not.

But look where you hit at its above the bumper that damage still would have happened with or with out the push bar on it.

It would have been worse without it. I was referring to your statement that they are "just for looks" and "do more damage than good", which I believe to be false. Protection is protection. And in the long run, which did more damage? My brush guard? Or the guy's beefed up bumper?

To me, it doesn't appear that your brush guard played any roll in the collision. Perhaps you had the headlight guard on there and now it's removed but even then it's not like the headlight guard did much of anything.

IMO, brush guards are good for keeping limbs out of the grille. That's about it. I'd much rather have something I could use for recovery. Be it a full size winch bumper or a small steel bumper with some sort of integrated brush guard.

I didn't make an effort to locate it after the collision, I'm sure it was beat pretty well anyway. I ended up making one to match the other side though. The guards themselves are decently strong, but they only use 2 bolts that were grade 3 or 5 maybe?

I agree on the recovery part. I do wheel my DD from time to time so added protection would be a bonus, especially if it gets me un-stuck. I got a pretty good deal on some tow hooks, so I use those. I just don't have the money for the extra armor.

That video is very inconclusive. They didn't even use a real vehicle for any of their tests, so we could only speculate what kind of damage the vehicle would sustain. We are also missing a control in this video, a vehicle without a "brushguard". This is because that video is a product comparisson, not a crash study.

That zj is completely totaled, what are you pointing out?
