After trying to comprehend what that said, I decided you should stop talking because your giving terrible advice. Your telling me that your "friend" has welded spiders on a cryco 8.25 with stock shafts and 36 inch tires? And you don't think that maybe even if this was true the extra 4 inches wouldn't matter? Personally I wouldn't run 40's on anything less than d 60's. 4.11's? Are you serious? OP do A LOT more research before you attempt this.
agreeeeeed!!!

I my buddie has 40" tires on his fully framed 85 4runner with D60 front 114BFF rear. both alloy 35 spline, broke a stock shaft in the D60.. its swaped with a v6 and he has to run 5.38's to run properly on the freeway in over drive. 4.11s wont cut it. I know I wouldn't be happy with 4.11's and 33's lol. read more, LOTS more before you do anything or spend any more money on your cheapest/best setup.....

ignoring all the BS in this thread. here is my take on this.
to run 40's effectively you need.
atleast 1-ton axles
tons of trimming including fabbing new wheel wells front and rear
deep gearing (5.XX +)
frame stiffening very heavy duty steering with hydro assist
a pair of well built driveshafts, like tom woods
a wheelbase stretch will help
to run 40's effectively you need.

Plus a HUGE price tag and an unknown amount of hours in the garage. Plus a ton of beer.

It'd be sweet don't get me wrong but you gotta do it right and by right I don't mean putting like 20inches of lift and bolt on some 40s its involves tons of fab again tons of fab!!! But more power to ya but do it right or just don't do it at all

If your serious pm me and ill get together a start list of parts and you can make a choice on wether or not its cost effective or feesible at your fab level. Its not a bolt on affair. And when I say start list it means getting the xj Prefabbed 40s but not moveable!!
