If your serious pm me and ill get together a start list of parts and you can make a choice on wether or not its cost effective or feesible at your fab level. Its not a bolt on affair. And when I say start list it means getting the xj Prefabbed 40s but not moveable!!

oh wow....
OP you SERIOUSLY underestimate what you're going to need to do to your cherokee in order to fit those, never mind actually be able to drive with them.
To illustrate - cherokee on 40s:

So....at minimum you're looking at:
10"+ lift w/ longarms
stretched wheelbase
1-ton full width axles front and rear
Very tall gearing (5.xx+)
An UNGODLY amount of trimming to where your jeep no longer resembles a cherokee
A LOT of custom work
Major steering work
My advice? Sell the tires and buy something else.

Well for the smart ones that say this isn't fabrication, I do believe I'm gonna have to fabricate numerious things so yeah, n if u don't like where I put my forum then don't look at it.
So my buddy has ford 8.8 axles. But I was thinkin about a ford 9 inch out of a bronco for these 40s. Right now my jeep is down bc I blew the rear chunk into pieces from my 33s.
I'm definitly goin to lift it up higher. My shocks that I just bought last year are eldelbrock(can't remember what model they are) but they were $150 a piece. They are for a 4-6 inch lift. And I have have maroso heavy duty coil springs with a 3inch lift that was $350 which I kno for sure ill have to get rid of them. And I just got a heavy duty drop pitman arm for a 4inch that was $90 and ill have to get rid of that too. Anyways I wanna try to do this with a 8 inch lift.

the main problem is goin to be the $. ill be able to do everything. ill probally try to do it the cheapest best way. i dont want it too cheap where itll break, but like i was lookin at a 8inch bds lift for $2800. n i cant afford that right now.

at that point you're cutting so much out of the unibody you need to build a full cage frame just to keep the jeep from folding up like a pretzel

OK, lets get back to the Jeep fellas. Good enough English to be able to communicate will do. Seriously, this is going to be a lot of work. The XJ is a good vehicle, but just is not made to be able to handle that kind of modification in stock form. You can get away with 35s with the right parts and a minimum if 6.5" lift. Please no arguments there, I know someone will say he cut up the fenders enough to do it with a stock lift. But here is the thing. Your fender wells are not going to allow you to put that tire in there. So full width axles are a must, and 35 spline axles in the rear minimum. Alloy axles in my book would be a must unless you restrict yourself to running mud. Second, you will probably have to move the axle forward unless you want to restrict your axle travel to about 3" of movement because of where the firewall is which is also your floorboard. Unless of course you want an extra assist with your toes in those flexy situations. You are going to have to brace the frame also, and might as well figure on coils on the rear also since leaf springs are hard to make work right at that height. The front is going to need a high steer on a beefy axle, preferably with a 30 spline alloy axle or larger. In short by the time you get all this done with driveline mods and such, you are going to have a lot of money in this XJ. If you are wanting to hit the big time, I would suggest you set your sights a little lower with the 36 - 38 tire range which is much more doable with an XJ
