Prepping interior for herculiner
Hey all, I am getting ready to start prepping the inside of my XJ for herculiner and was wondering if I should remove the heat shielding material from the floor or coat over it? I will attach a few pics to show what I am talking about. If they do need to be removed anyone have any recommendations on how to get them out as they are stuck down pretty well.

I would leave it and coat over top of it, you could spray a self etching primer on it to help the bedliner stick to it.

I used a drywall scraper/putty knife and heat gun to remove most of it, then I hosed down the rest with automotive goof off for a few days.
I am am going to try making my own liner/pre liner out of latex paint and microballoons. It supposedly will give it some sound and heat dampening (similar to lizard skin). I will be using it on the floor and above the headliner.
Ultimately my jeep is my project car so I’m not too worried about more road noise.
