Default Prepping for paint

Whats the best steps for prepping a bare metal bumper for paint? I want the final coat to be bed liner.

Sand it with some 120 grit and wipe it down with acetone.

What FrankZ said but I would prime it with self etching primer afterwards.

Definately prime, I painted mine(they were chrome) with the heavy duty textured bed liner, all I did was scuff them in prep and they didn't last at all before it started coming off

I used POR15 on mine before I painted mine with bedliner. Be for warned, allow the POR to be dry (Maybe a little tacky) before spraying on the bedliner. The bedliner will shrink if the POR is still wet. Its cool looking when it happens, but will end up with a crappy looking paint job.

Deff make sure you sand to get that tooth you'll need for the paint to grab. Then clean it with acetone and make sure its clean other wise it'll come out like ****. I would then primer twice.
