hey guys, a guy just offered me a 1999, xj 4.0 engine with 173k on it supposedly, would that slap right into my 1996 xj in place of its 4.0 that has alot if miles, or is there a bit more to it than that, just curious. im a severe jeep enthusiast, new to them tho, was once a toyota guy. but im in love. i was wondering if this is easily done, worth it, or whatever your opinions are, the guy is asking 600 for the engine, and i dont even know if that good or not, with that mileage, please let me know your thoughts!! thanks

X2 with what has been said. Any chance to hear the motor run before you buy? Can you do a compression test on it before you buy? Oil look good with no metal particles in when you use a magnet to see if it picks up any metal? Benz.
