Just looking for low end, below 3000 mainly, live in AZ lots of rocks and hills, not much mud here

I always use grunt I.e. towing/rv type cam in jeeps. Idle-3700 or so. They always give me what im looking for out of a jeep. Even in mud and highway. Depending on what brand you use the options may be different. If I remember right mines actually called an extreme 4x4 cam from comp.

Just wondering, if the OP spends the money on an upgraded cam and has the head work done, wouldn't he still be able to use those things if he later decided to do a stroker? I'm just thinking that going the cheaper route in this case would only be spent time and not wasted money.

Yes those items would be able to be used if you ever decide to do the 4.7 kit. Alot of the kits ive seen come with a cam already in them though. Molar performance also offers a cam for the 4.0, we just put one in my buddy's tj about 6 months ago and it seems to be ok. Not as cool sounding as the comp though.

My xj has a stuck lifter so I am taking the opportunity to replace the cam. Anyone use the 505performance stage 1 cam?

It all depends upon the application. I've seen many claims that the fuel mileage actually increased.Originally Posted by toddhalbot
