perf. cam in stock motor
98' 4.0 with a home brew cold air intake and a cat back exhaust with high flow catalytic converter. I am wondering if it is worth a performance cam? Or just a waste of money?
I am also considering a multi spark MSD ignition.

Ive used comp and crane in 4.0s before and liked both alot. Gives you even more grunt. If you do one get the cam kit and replace the lifters also. Sounds faster too! Lol.

I have researched strokers and decided to steer away from them. I am planning to have my head rebuilt at the same time, so I could easily get the kit and have it built to my needs.

Diesel, thanks for the info. However I am trying to find useful information for a 4.0, not your unwavering belief in what you think everyone else should do and why they are wrong for not agreeing with you.
Your opinion on a cam not being worth it is noted. Multiple comments from experience are always helpful.

For what its worth I AM happy with my comp. It gave me a little torque bump and a tough sound. And all some people want it that, not to spend 2 grand and have their jeep down.

If you're set on camming it just steer clear of Crane, they are currently in the process of bankruptcy/being bought/re-opening. What RPM range are you looking to have the power?

If you've got the extra cash, go for it. It's not going to HURT it, but it's not the best bang for your buck.
My 77 Cutlass had a stock Chevy 350 in it, other than an RV cam... but despite not really doing much in the way of performance, that RV cam made it sound incredible. I loved driving around, even though it wasn't really fast, just because of that sound. I miss that sound...
