Default New to lifts, just a basic question

Sorta new to all this, so forgive my inexperience. I'm getting ready to put a Rough Country 4.5 inch long arm lift on my XJ, and I was wondering if there is anything outside of their kit that I'll need, other than brake lines and fender trim. Any kind of help is appreciated.

i herd possiably a drop pitmin arm for your steering and i recomond adjustable trac bar. dont know to much bout lifts. thats just what ive seen on here

it looks pretty complete. and I think I see stainless brake lines are already included in the kit
I did not see shackles for the rear. so I'm assuming they are 4.5" leaf packs. you're not going to see much rear flex
and contrary to what most people will tell you, you do not need a steering stabilizer. try running without one and if you really want one just get it from auto zone. do not spend more than $20 on a steering stabilizer

other than that you may opt for an SYE later on. and I'm not sure why they include a (drop?) pitman arm as you shouldn't need one at 4.5"
if the kit doesn't come with a tcase drop you will need one

That's the one. It comes with a tcase skid plate, but it doesn't say anything about a drop. And I probably will go with the SYE, just to be safe. And how can I tell which model transfer case I have?

Also a bit of a newbie question, but do 2wd vehicles even have transfer cases? I know they're used in 4wd but my XJ is a 2wd.

Crawl under there and there will be a seal on the back half. Wipe off the grit it will say 242 or 231
Or the easier way to tell (IIRC) is shift into 4hi and a "part time" light will ding on for 231

As fr 2wd that's a good question. I assume it does though

2wds don't have a transfer case, just a longer tail housing on the trans and a funky cross member mount. As far as I know you can't out a sye on a 2wd, just a longer drive shaft and cross member drop...

If your gonna drive faster then like 50mph better think bout changing the shims for the axel. Tie rods, trans drop, brake lines, control arms, an so on lol. Do your research well before you do anything. Best of luck
