Spent about $65-$70 total making mine, since it wasn't my original plan.
Started as this simple ChromeIntakes setup i got for $30

Then someone here convinced me to turn it into a cowl snorkel after pointing out that^ setup was just sucking in hot air. So i bought a flexable intake tube from the auto parts store and a K&N filter. Ended up like this

It's going in that side since i have ABS.

I know, but I want a second battery. I thought about putting it in back but between a battery box and welding cables I would have spent $100 anyway and still would have to fab the intake. I would have spent the $150 anyway. This option is neater and easier. Sometimes a few extra bucks is worth it

I was gonna make one but also, something to think about for those living in cali, if I made a legit one out of the airbox I wouldn't have the preheat tube. I failed smog for that last time. Plus I want a second battery as well

I found this while randomly searching around for things and thought it might be useful for anyone doing this type of conversion... and might simplify the mounting to the firewall as well.. reasonably priced too

Okay question. Arnt these spectre intakes and that other brand one the same thing i mentioned earlier doing with the intake inside the cowl. You would run the 3inch tubing from the inside of the cowl connected to the intake??
-cant water still get in this way?
-the passenger side is not dirrectly open above it has some covdr and is more open on the driver side(for air)

Sorry if im being confusing.

Well pretty much. And as for water getting in there, ya it can still happen just not quite as easy. The Stock air box setup is better if your worried about water because it would go in the air box and out the drain holes if you don't plug them all. And the inside the cowl version will be louder as well.
