Default Motor Mount no one seems to have talked about

Genuinely asking, not trolling here.

Everyone seems to love Brown Dog as the alternative to the OEM-style motor mount, and the voices here seem to be in agreement.

I'm wondering about this design—it doesn't appear to have the same faults as the OE, all-rubber-with-a-bit-of-metal-tubing-through-it, but more along the lines of what BD does with their design: metal housing fully encircling the rubber.

It's the SKP SKM3131, This mount here

Has anyone tried it? any reason to reject it outright? The longer I look, it seems the rubber doesn't cover the whole of mount bolt shaft…

I guess, I'm wondering if anyone has used it and if it's at least better than brown dog. I'm not going to be doing crazy trail running, so BD seems a bit overkill in my instance.

Thanks

My Nissan has something like that. It is thin rubber inbetween it. They are known to crack and then break in half. Its popular to fill in the sides with a special epoxy to make it more like a solid mount. I wish someone would come out with a mount like the brown dog but with a much softer bushing.

Well, crap.

Even the BD rubber bushings are that rigid? No way in hell I'm getting poly. Well, I've about exhausted my budget, so OE it is…

Yes, the BD Ultra-flex rubber bushings are rigid. I have them on my 4cyl MJ. They did transmit vibrations but after a out 1K miles, they softened up some. Still have some vibration but not as much as full poly.

That mount just looks like they took a compliance bushing for a control arm... from say a honda.

Contact XJwonders for one of his sets. Maybe he can work something out for your needs.

That's a typical Chrysler motor mount design. The dodge neon series used a very similar set up as did the dodge ram diesel equiped models. You could order poly inserts to take up the open areas and make them more rigid. You could also fill them with liquid polyurethane yourself for a cheap upgrade.

Cuz it uses less material, and is therefore cheaper to make
