Uh-oh. My heater blend seems to have fixed itself...
I hate that. Things that fix themselves have a way of UNfixing themselves, and usually at the worst possible time.
The heater on my '97 has been on full heat for.... forever. Once when I was messing with the vacuum system, looking for a leak, it went to no heat (that's where the dial was set), but as soon as I turned it to full hot, then back, it went to full hot and stayed there.
I have been managing it by just turning the diverter (?) switch (the one that directs where the air goes) completely off, which pretty effectively shut off the heat. Now that weather is cooler, I'll use it on various settings (heat, defrost, whatever) to get some heat in the cab, and crack a window to regulate temperature.
So, the heat **** stays at the COLD position, but I get heat anyway.
Until yesterday. I turned the diverter switch from OFF to HEAT, and after a while noticed I was not getting any heat. I tried turning the heat dial all the way up, and got full heat. Tried it on cold, and things went cold. Middle position, warm air.
It's working correctly!
Why? Any ideas?

this is that instance where the ATM gave you an additional $500. don't ask questions, investigate, or tell anyone bc ultimately you will somehow end up with less than what you had prior to beginning said situation.
