I think what they are trying to say is that you need a better axle to throw money at. Chrome's on a Dana 30 sure, locking hubs- no way.

If you really like cleaning and repacking bearings after playing in the mud and water, by all means convert to manual hubs. If you like tens of thousands of maintenance free miles, keep the unit bearings.
