Default locking hubs

so my buddy has a set of brand new locking hubs he never used due to the fact he went 1 tons. he is going to sell them to me for next to nothing and i was wondering what wheels i can use. can i use a steel wheel or a procomp alloy wheel? not really sure if the locking hubs will fit threw the alloy wheels any information would be great so i know what wheels to buy thanks. p.s i found a set of used alloy wheels on craigslist so they will cost as much as steel wheels so people dont say the cost factor of the wheels.

They will fit through most wheels, but to use the locking hubs you have to install a kit on the dana 30 that eliminates the unit bearing. It's pretty pricey. If I remember correctly its like 1.5 or 2k. It will give you better gas milage tho. I think it's called a dana 30 free spin kit. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

I believe it also adds some strength to the axle for larger tires too.

The mileage difference would be immeasurable.

What about strength gains? Any to be had with manual hub conversion?

Why not just hold one of the locking hubs up against your center cap on your wheels and then you can eye ball it.

The only reason I would ever want locking hubs on an xj is so my lockright in the front wasn't always ratcheting. Other than that I wouldn't put them on unless they were free
