Headliner dome light question?
I currently have a headliner with one small dome light in the middle and no vanity mirror or lights on the sun visors in my 99 XJ. I just acuired a headiner and visors of a 2001 XJ. Visors have vanity mirror and lights. the headliner comes with dome light with two smaller ones in the middle and a small dome light in the cargo area. I dont have the complete wiring for it but do have the connections to them. Does anyone know how to wire these up?

Connections are different and dont really want to go throught the trouble in finding another XJ for the harness. is there a way to go around the harness?

Is this the light you have?
It should be pretty simple to splice with the connector you have. A multimeter might come in handy to determine which line is hot when the door is open or switch is turned on.

Thought of just wiring the stock harness with the one on the 2001 dome lights but what gets me is that the 2 small lights nod the rear cargo light can come on if you press them.

I just recently did this to my other jeep I grabbed the front wire harness and the rear one. You also need the bracket for that light as the other one is just pushed thru the liner. The plugs for each are different and as you didn't have the vanity mirrors you need that part of the harness also. It you can happen to get the harness is going to make life easy, instead of trying to add wires or splice into the original harness, which may or may not work. And the bracket is important also.
