I know there are plenty of posts about this but I seem to be missing them and I'm hoping this won't take too long to iron out.
I'm stuck between lockers for my C8.25 29 spline. I love ARB but I already have an OX coming for the front, already installed in new D44 with 4.88's. So I don't know if I want to run everything for an ARB just for the rear, plus when I look up ARB's for my C8.25 it doesn't indicate what gear size. Is it just a universal fit for any gear ratio in a 8.25? Seems odd to me. Anyways, I know a lot of people that run Detroits and are happy with them but the unload issues they've faced in the past still worry me a little. I kinda want to stick with selectable, but the only one I find is ARB, am I missing something. Or perhaps I should just get a detroit or lunchbox and be happy with it. What's the board say?

With selectables, there is OX, e-lockers, and ARB. I prefer ARB myself, but am a bit biased
I would not totally discard the idea of detroits and similar auto-locking diffs. If money is an issue, they don't really have any more risks than the selectable options, IMO, and would be cheaper.
I am not sure about the gear ratio thing, although it is no that uncommon for non-dana axles to have one locker for all ratios. It deserves more research or someone that has experience with it, but it is not that odd.

So all ring diameters are the same on a 8.25? I might be confused. Either way, are they easier or harder than doing gears and lockers on a Dana series axle? I've done work on dana's, but never a chrysler.
You're not understanding the need for different carriers. It's a function of the gear thickness and not the diameter that drives the need for different carriers. The diameters are the same.
As I stated, the 8.25" carrier does not need to be replaced. it can be used for gears as low as 4.88:1
The gear install on an 8.25 is easier. Make sure you build 2 adjuster tools, this will speed up the process immensely.

Hmm, alright, thanks. Either way, Ox doesn't make a locker for 8.25, and can't find an e-locker for a 29 spline, so I guess I go with ARB unless someone gives me a different option.

I knew there was no way when the aussie site sells them for $300. I got a new one for under $250 shipped but it was because I found it on ebay.

I just installed an Aussie in my 8.25 a couple months ago and it cost me $300 from Aussie direct. Easy installation...probably less than an hour start to finish.

G2 full housing and assembly, ready to bolt in. I guess I'm going to have to change the locker to something other than an OX. Perhaps I should just go with ARB for both, probably be the easiest. I was worried because I had already ordered it with an OX but I called them and they're holding my order until I figure out what I want. The ARB is cheaper than the OX so they said it wouldn't be an issue to switch to that if I wanted. I really want selectable, so guess my only option is ARB in both. Thanks guys
