Default Installed my AA SYE! Question...

Installed my SYE today. Install went very smoothly. Installed with TC still mounted on Jeep. (I'm not really sure why anyone would remove the TC to do this install as there was MORE than enough room to do everything with the TC mounted)...Only thing that was a pain in the *** were those damn snap rings. Install took about 3 hours start to finish.

Anyway, I have a question. I have a 2000 XJ, Automatic, NP231, and the dreaded D35. Knowing that the D35 is an inch shorter than an 8.25, I picked up a spare front driveshaft for free and figured why not try it in the rear. But what I found was that the slip yoke was nearly fully extended now. It's showing about 3" of slip and probably has about another 1/2 inch of slip before it maxes out. Also, the slip did not retract or move outward whether the weight of the jeep was lifted from the frame or compressed on the ground.

So my question is; Is my slip yoke too far extended to safely drive the jeep? Or is 3" of slip yoke still leave me with enough "slack" for whatever I need it for?

Lengthen would cost me $150 which sucks, but if it direly needs it, let me know.

Thanks Jeep guru's!

Ugh.... not what I wanted to hear. I'm not sure which driveshaft to use from the ZJ. If my measurement from center of yoke to center of yoke is 33.5", what size driveshaft is ideal?

Or if I use a stock front shaft, how many inches should I get it lengthened? How much slip yoke do I want showing? 1"?

Can I drive the jeep around here or there with the slip yoke extended 3" until I get this issue resolved?

F8Ck the d35. If I had an 8.25 this would have been hassle free...

For $150 you might be able to find an 8.25 on craigslist. Seems like a better place to put the money if that shaft will work with an 8.25
