Default 2000 XJ broken door wires

I'm about to check to see if I have any broken wires in drivers door hinge boot.
My question is has anyone unplugged the wires from inside and pulled them thru holes in body.
Seems that you would have more access to un wrap and repair anything broken . Then just pull them back thru and plug in again?
I've seen a video repairing wires without pulling them out but, to be honest there isn't a hell of a lot room for a pair of hands .

hello,i had one broken speaker wire in the rubber door boot that i had to repair...all i did was to push the rubber boot back into the door exposing all the wires and that made it far more easy for me to make the repair,i also removed the door check strap this allowed for the door to open a little more..i had a second person to hold the door to stop it swinging around and that helped a great deal.hope this helps you...;-)

Default Guess what I found ???

Well I exposed door harness wires inside door boot . Well I found (2) wires broken . A PINK wire and a green one . I assume the green is drivers door speaker
Is Pink wire power door lock?
Plan on soldering them but also noticed cuts into insulation on other wires but just insulation. Maybe some liquid tape on cut marks?

you may well be right about the broken wires you found and there function,it may help you if you tackle the other wires that have cracks in the insulation as the next thing to happen to them is they will break and you will be doing the work all over again on the other wires.well done in finding the broken wires..;-)

If I remember correctly the green wire was what I repaired to fix my passenger side door speaker. Soldering is always better but I just used a butt connector. Still working 2 years later. Quick search does see to indicate the pink is the one for the locks.

I removed the drive side kick panel, the door panel and water shield to get complete access. Disconnected the harnesses and pulled everything through to the door side. Used butt connectors w/ adhesive lined heak shrink to make my connections. Cut out all the bad stuff and replaced it with some left over tinned marine wire (many strands, corrosion resistant, very flexible) I had in the basement.
