Default identifying lift

found a salvage yard on cl that clams to be a jeep place and have a bunch of cherokee, grand cherokees and so on with lots of parts. they have a 3 inch lift for a cherokee for sale front springs and rear leafs but he dosnt know what brand but says its a 3 inch. is there any markings i should look for to see what brand and if it is really a 3 inch lift? any axles from other jeeps that will be a upgrade for my xj? i really want dana 44's but I'm still new to this jeep thing and i have the bug.

Many companies will have something on the coils/leafs to identify the make and possibly lift. For factory axles look for HP30 and 29 spline 8.25 those are the strongest axles Cherokees came with in the states besides the obvious d44 rear end

If you want a bolt on upgrade the two I listed are the only ones. I'm not sure about the strength of that axle but it would take some work and a welder to work. Would defiantly be a different width too

I paid $200 for RC shocks and springs for all four corners. Hard to say what it is and what it's worth without seeing it... OME or RE stuff in good shape would certainly be worth it

ok so i went to go look at the lift and i didn't get it. i couldn't tell what brand it was and it looks beat so i wasn't gonna take the chance. also the axle that he said he had was a dana 44, well long story short it wasn't. it was a dana 35 clip he didn't know what he was talking about lol

What axles to use depends on tire size and how you drive.A dana 30 beefed up and 8.8 swap can handle 35s,But i have seen people break a dana 44 on 37s.Most on here stick to stockish axles beefed up and drive easy or go nuts with 1 ton axles dana 60 and a 14 bolt.
