I had a 79 Bronc but it had the 400m turd. 9" rear is great front is a cast 44 but as long as you stay with radius arms it's fine. Oh I forgot you want 44s, ditch those axles and find some tons.

The commanche has basicly a unibody just like XJ only difference is that the rear unirails are boxed on top and that's because instead of boxing the top of the unirail with the floor like the XJ the MJ has a removeable bed so they box the top but it's still really no heavier .

No it's not the front half if just like the XJ and the rear is no stronger than an XJ ...the xj unirail top is part of the cabs floor and on the MJ the rear bed portion they simply box that top in b/c there is no cab floor boxing it in due to the removeable bed . In some ways by integrated design of the XJ's unirail/full cab I'd bet it stronger than an MJ . Go ahead an mic the thickness of that MJ rear "frame" .

To answer your questions about the k5, they weigh at least 6 thou not built. And they are very easy to fit at least 40's under. Like shackle flip in the rear and front springs. This will amount to about a 4 inch lift. One tons won't directly bolt up as the spring perched are not the same as on a k5 but they are all leaf springs. And yes go with a 60/14 the 60 rear has a habit of breaking pinion shafts when its behind a built v8
