Default Help needed: Push Button ignition wiring

I just got a free push button starter switch from a buddy, would like to do it if there is an easy way. I'm no professional, but I've done wiring before and I can follow directions and do the stuff and soldering myself if necessary. I've heard running a wire from the starter solenoid wire to your switch, then a wire from the switch to the positive terminal of the battery will work, anyone confirm/disprove that? I've got a 94 country. Thanks guys.

Thanks, went there and learned a lot, but a few things were unanswered. I want my set up to work where you still have to have the key, and be able to turn the key to accessory then your push button starter will work. Then, turn the key from acc back to off to shut off like normal. Confused on how to do that, don't want the extra accessory switch he put in next to the starter button.

mine is 2000 so the start wire may be diff... but heres how i did it.

mine is the easiest way to do it.

heres my soft write up for how i did it. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ea...000-xj-109640/
i ran a red indicator light above the switch later so when i turn it on i can see the light. its like a reminder if i accidently leave it on.
