Default Heat control valve and heater delete?

Hi guys I looked on the forums a bit and could not find just what I was looking for. I have a 1995 4.0.

I just did a quick trip up to the lake and when I got to the top, the plastic elbow from the heater hose had cracked and was spewing everywhere. Looking at other threads, I saw people saying the heater control valve tends to go out. I have not had that problem, but I would be interested in deleting the system. My heater does not work anyway I don't really care or even want it to work. I often run the heater to circulate more air when the coolant temps rise which is why I don't want it to work. What can I do to delete the whole heater system but still be able to use the air to lower coolant temps. Also, should I just buy a knew elbow or is there a way to run the heater hoses better.

Thanks in advance.

How long have you owned that jeep? I don't remember that elbow being factory. If one line from the elbow goes to the thermostat housing and the other line goes to the water pump outlet pipe, then your heater core and valve have already been deleted. Thats why your heater core doesn't work. Its also not doing anything to help cool the engine

Buy the newer body style heater core hoses, they are preformed and cut to length to eliminate what was your blend valve. Obviously that's long gone as you have it looped but still yet, the preformed hoses are a very clean and simple routing plumbing to your heater core. Honestly unless your heater core is leaking I dont see the point in bypassing it unless your doing purpose built jeep stuff

I bought it how it is with the heater core bypassed and I had no idea. Looking at it more today, my heater control valve is broken, so it has been since I bought it. I would like to leave it disconnected and take it out because it's just sitting there. What hoses do I plug or can I just take them off at the fire wall? Should I just plug the vacuum line?

Soo I suppose let's be very clear about your intentions...

You want to keep your current bypassed configuration OR improve it?

OR

Something else?

Yes plug the vacuum hose that was plugged into the control valve. Could be plugged with a screw or nip the elbow off and use an actual vacuum line plug

If your heater core is not leaking....and you won't know till you hook it up....hose from thermostat housing directly into upper heater core port. Lower heater core port goes back directly onto the water pump outlet tube. You have to check the sizes...upper hose is slightly larger dia than the lower hose. Do a search for heater hoses for 97 and up. They will fit what you need

I want to keep my bypassed system or improve it. I bought the elbow piece and installed that. I took out my broken heater control valve and plugged the vacuum line. I assume it's fine to leave the heater core hoses there and open? I tried to take them off but they were stuck on the heater core.
